PORT ADELAIDE’s Gemma Houghton and Matilda Scholz have been confirmed as finalists in the 2024 NAB AFLW Goal of the Year and 2024 NAB Virgin Mark of the Year respectively.

Houghton was recognised among the three top goals of the year for her cracking third-quarter solo effort in the Week 7 win over Collingwood.

With the Pies ahead on the scoreboard and the ball deep inside Port Adelaide’s forward 50, Houghton took the ball out of the ruck and snapped truly from a tight angle – her effort made more remarkable by the speed of the action.

Adelaide’s Hannah Munyard (week 6) and Western Bulldog Deanna Berry (week 9) are the other finalists for Goal of the Year.

Fans can now vote for their favourite goal at https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/goal-of-the-year.

By voting, fans will also be entered into a draw to win $5,000, thanks to NAB.

The overall winner will be determined by a combination of votes from the AFLW All-Australian Panel and the public.

Scholz’s Week 7 Mark saw her fly high above a pack that had formed deep inside Port Adelaide’s forward 50 in a mark that had the Alberton crowd on its feet just minutes after Houghton’s mark.

While Scholz’s effort was not that week’s fan voted mark of the week, it was included as a finalist alongside the mark taken by Hawthorn’s Mattea Breed in Week 9 and the Week 10 effort by Geelong’s Rachel Kearns.

By voting, fans also have a chance to win $5,000, courtesy of Virgin Australia.

The winner of each of the awards will be announced at the W Awards on Monday, November 25.

The NAB AFLW Goal of the Year winner will receive $50,000, with an additional $10,000 donated by NAB to the winner’s junior football club.
