SACHI SYME has only scored 2.4 in her career so far but the Port Adelaide young gun knows Saturday night’s behind with less than 90 seconds to play was by far her most important scoreboard contribution.

After spending most of the Semi Final against Hawthorn in the backline, Syme was sent forward in the last quarter with her side trailing by 22 points.

What followed was a record comeback, which shocked the 3680 crowd at IKON Park and sent Port Adelaide into a maiden AFLW Preliminary Final.

Syme’s behind, having hit the post three minutes earlier with a long-range set shot, put her side in front and the Power was able to hold on.

“It was definitely the best point I've ever kicked in my life,” Syme smiled at Adelaide Airport after the side returned home on Sunday morning.

“I don't think it really sunk in until after the game, but I mean, it was a team effort, and all the girls, we battled it out all game, and I was just lucky enough to get one sneaky one.

“(Coach Lauren Arnell) told us at three quarter time just to leave it all out there, and we know that we can do it as a team, and we've been training for weeks on end now.

“For us to just leave it all out there, literally and come home and win by point like that, the belief is really there.”

The remarkable turnaround saw Port Adelaide record an eighth straight win.

Ahead of a return to IKON for a Preliminary Final against North Melbourne next Saturday, Syme said there was a good feeling at Alberton.

“For us it’s love what you do, and that's what we live by at the club,” she said. “So, for us girls to be winning games and winning good games of footy and tough games of footy, yeah, the vibes are high.

The Kangaroos are yet to taste defeat in 2024 and will go into the Preliminary Final as firm favourites, as did the Hawks on Saturday night.

“It's going to be tough,” Syme said. “Finals footy is tough. But, I think we're just going to go in there and give it everything, like we did this week and the week before - just go out there and do what we do best, play our footy, Port Adelaide footy, and hopefully we get another good outcome.”

Port Adelaide will face the Kangaroos in the Preliminary Final at IKON Park from 3:05pm AEDT / 2:35pm ACDT on Saturday.
