The Port Adelaide Football Club has informed defender Alex Ballard and midfielder Jo Miller they will not be offered contracts for next season.
Part of Port Adelaide’s inaugural AFLW list, Ballard debuted in the club’s first match and played 16 games as a key defender, averaging 11 disposals.
She trained as a forward in 2024 but failed to make an appearance at AFLW level.
Miller was signed as an injury replacement player this year after being a train-on player.
The 25-year-old kicked two goals in her debut in Week 9 against the Gold Coast and played one further game a week later.
“Alex and Jo have each contributed to our program in different ways and it is incredibly difficult to say farewell, as we have to at this time of the year,” said List Manager, Naomi Maidment.
“Alex was part of our club’s inaugural playing list and has been a great teammate and friend to many within our group.
“While her time with us was brief, Jo should be proud of the way she conducted herself and the work she put in to give herself a chance at AFLW level.
“We thank both Alex and Jo for their dedication to our program and wish them well with the next stage in their lives and careers.”
