Port Adelaide has claimed South Australian midfielder/forward Jasmine Evans with its second pick (pick 33 overall) at Monday night’s Telstra AFLW Draft.
A classy forward who can also play on the wing, Evans has impressed with her ball use for Central District in the SANFLW, where she was part of the side that won the 2023 premiership alongside new Port Adelaide teammate Caitlin Wendland.
Renowned for her elite foot skills and vision, the teenager has some x-factor with the way she can pick off a pass and hit the scoreboard if given the chance.
She booted 15 goals in 14 games for the Dogs in 2024, as well as averaging 10 disposals and three marks.
Playing for South Australia at the National Championships, Evans was given midfield minutes and she averaged 15.5 disposals and three clearances.
Known to be damaging even when having little of the ball, Evans has already shown an ability to step up in big moments, including kicking a late goal to win the game for the Dogs against Norwood in just her third senior game and later booting three goals in a quarter in the 2023 SANFLW Preliminary Final.
List Manager Naomi Maidment said:
“An elite ball user, Jasmine has demonstrated an ability to win her own ball and be dangerous in front of goal.”
