Port Adelaide draftee Joe Berry will make his AFL debut this Saturday night against Collingwood, as Darcy Byrne-Jones celebrates his 200th game at the top level.

Taken with pick 15 at the National Draft in November, Berry has impressed coaches and teammates alike with his growth and professionalism throughout his first pre-season as an AFL player.

The 18-year-old will be joined at the MCG by recruits Jack Lukosius and Joe Richards, for their first official outings in black, white and teal.

Tall forward Lukosius came to Alberton with 116 AFL games at Gold Coast behind him, while Richards is preparing to take on his former club after nine games at Collingwood.

Richards’ club debut will mark the first time the number 35 guernsey has taken the field for Port Adelaide since John McCarthy’s tragic passing in 2012.

Byrne-Jones has barely missed a beat throughout the 12 years of his AFL career, with the All-Australian half back transforming himself into an important small forward for the Power over the past two seasons.

Kicking 28 goals last year, Byrne-Jones’ consistency and hard work are trademarks of his game, while his leadership on and off field is greatly valued by the playing group.

Club great Travis Boak is set to equal Russell Ebert’s record for most games for Port Adelaide this weekend, and he’ll also move into 11th place alongside Adam Goodes for most V/AFL games played with 372.

In a big week of special moments, Sam Powell-Pepper will mark his return to football after a devastating knee injury ended his season in Round 7 last year.

Now 10-and-a-half months post-surgery, the beloved forward is fully fit and ready to go for Round 1.

Port Adelaide will face Collingwood from 7:35pm Adelaide time, with the match broadcast live on Fox Footy and Kayo.
