Port Adelaide forward Jack Lukosius will be sidelined for an extended period after injuring his knee early in Saturday’s game against Richmond.

The new recruit was subbed out after colliding with a player in a contest, with scans on Sunday confirming a fractured kneecap. Lukosius will undergo surgery in the coming days, with a timeline for return to become clearer soon.

With the short turnaround between games, Ryan Burton and Lachie Jones both won't be available this Thursday night, with Burton suffering a hip flexor strain from being caught in a tackle, and Jones sustaining an adductor injury after hyperextending his knee.

Ollie Lord will be assessed this week after falling heavily on his shoulder during Saturday's SANFL trial game, with scans clearing him of acute injury, while small forward Jed McEntee missed the SANFL trial with some minor tightness in his hamstring.

Zak Butters, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Todd Marshall and Tom Anastasopoulos are all making positive progress in their rehabilitation.

Port Adelaide will name its side for its Round 3 game against Essendon on Wednesday at 5:50pm.
