Port Adelaide defender Kane Farrell has signed a five-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2030.
An effective distributor in the Power’s backline, Farrell is renowned for his booming left foot and pinpoint accuracy.
The 26-year-old has the ability to gain territory, averaging just over 500 metres gained in 2024, ranking him inside the top 10 players league-wide for the season.
Farrell has cemented his role as a leader in the backline after spending the first part of his career as a forward, with the attacking defender still hitting the scoreboard on occasion.
Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps said securing Farrell’s signature was significant for the club.
“Kane is a very important player for us now and into the future,” Cripps said.
“We’ve seen him grow into an impactful, reliable footballer who works hard and leads by example.
“His ball movement out of the backline and sharp left foot are trademarks of his game, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow his voice and leadership on-field.”
Originally from Castlemaine in country Victoria, Farrell arrived at Alberton with pick 51 in the 2017 National Draft.
The last two seasons have seen him play almost every game, missing only a handful to injury.
Farrell said he was pleased to secure his future at the Power.
“I’ve loved my time at Port Adelaide and I’m really happy to be here for another five seasons,” Farrell said.
“I’m settled in Adelaide with my partner and have made some great mates at the club over the last few years.
“I feel like my best football is still to come. We have a fantastic group of players and coaches here who are all working hard toward the same goals, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.”
Farrell is the second player to extend his stay at Port Adelaide this year, with young ruck Dante Visentini signing on for two more seasons last month.
