PORT ADELAIDE has 60,000 members for the second consecutive year.

The figure should continue to increase through the sale of three-game memberships to provide access to the Power’s enticing final five home fixtures, which include night blockbusters against Richmond, Hawthorn and Melbourne, and Showdown 41 against the Crows.

Within that figure:

-        A third of the Power’s membership base is aged under 30 years.
-        Nearly 88 percent of the Power’s membership tally consists of renewed members.

The membership figure is supported by Port holding the third-highest average home game attendance behind Collingwood and the Crows in an indifferent on-field season.

Port Adelaide’s GM of marketing and consumer business Matthew Richardson says the achievement is a significant one for the club.

“This is a membership figure that speaks to our people’s passion for Port Adelaide,” Richardson said.

“To get back-to-back seasons with 60,000 members is a mark of how we’ve consolidated our membership base and continued to bring our passion to games, which is shown in us having the third-highest home attendance figure on average.

“We have one of the highest supporter-to-member conversions in the AFL, and it shows in the way our members get involved in our game day experience at Adelaide Oval and the way they bring their passion to our games outside of SA is among the best in the league.”

In a message sent to members on Wednesday night, Port Adelaide’s chief executive Keith Thomas described the achievement as one entirely creditable to members themselves.

“Members are the lifeblood of our footy club,” Mr Thomas said.

“Even when times are tough on the field, or off it, our diehard supporters have stuck by us, rocked up, and cheered hard, and in recent times we have welcomed many more young and excited supporters into our family.”

Port Adelaide memberships are still on sale, with three-game memberships providing access to any three of the Power’s remaining AFL home games against Richmond (Friday 1 July), Hawthorn (Thursday 7 July), GWS (Sunday 24 July), Melbourne (Saturday 13 August) and the Crows in Showdown 41 (Saturday 20 August).
