LOUIS SHARRAD has won the SANFL's Reserves Magarey Medal after an oustanding 2017 season.
On 20 votes, he led home teammate Tom Gray who finished second on 17.
Both clearly led the equal-third placegetters Stefan Giro (Norwood) and Oliver Johnson (West).
He was named best on ground in three games for the year, and polled two votes in five games.
It's a significant win for the 24-year-old Magpie, who played in five League games during the season - including in his Round 18 recall where he was named best on ground by the club coaches.
Reserves coach Mark Clayton praised the performance shown by Sharrad during the season.
"It's a great result for Louis," Clayton told portadelaidefc.com.au.
"Given the circumstances around the fitness of our AFL squad and not many positions being available in the league team, it shows his attitude and dedication to the footy club.
"He didn't let the limited opportunities in the senior team affect him, he just came and played really strong, consistent footy in the reserves.
"His reward for that isn't just the Reserves Magarey Medal, but the chance to play League finals."
Port Adelaide's last Reserves Magarey Medallists came in through Terry Milera in 2010, and Daniel Batson in 2009.
