PORT ADELAIDE has made a further two changes to its list ahead of the AFL’s second list lodgement deadline on Tuesday.
The club has delisted forward Boyd Woodcock and defender Riley Grundy but has committed to reselecting each of them in the AFL Rookie Draft later this month.
Woodcock enjoyed a strong SANFL campaign in his first year with Port Adelaide, having been taken by the club with pick 76 in the 2018 AFL National Draft.
The 19-year-old played every game for the Magpies and kicked 22 goals in 2019, putting the small forward on the cusp of an AFL debut in Round 19 when he was named as an emergency against Greater Western Sydney.
A knee injury delayed Grundy’s start to 2019, while a broken finger also interrupted his debut season.
Taken with pick 73 in the 2018 AFL National Draft, the 19-year-old managed 14 SANFL games for the year as a developing key defender.
“We’d like to approach the upcoming draft with as much flexibility as we can from a list numbers perspective. Both Boyd and Riley are aware of this and have worked with us on this decision, putting the club’s needs first,” said General Manager – Football, Chris Davies.
“As players, both boys have shown significant development in their football this year and we look forward to seeing more improvement when they return to Port Adelaide in 2020.”
