PORT ADELAIDE has broken its all-time membership record for the third consecutive year after passing its previous benchmark of 55,750 members over the Adelaide Cup long weekend.
Impressively, the new standard has been set in record time, having done so four months faster than its last benchmark set in 2014.
The club's chief executive Keith Thomas told portadelaidefc.com.au the record was only possible thanks to the emotional buy-in from supporters excited to be part of a new Port Adelaide journey led by Ken Hinkley and Travis Boak back in 2013.
Sitting on 56,028 members on Tuesday evening, Port Adelaide has now fixed its sights on reaching 60,000 members.
“I remember vividly sitting on 29,000 members [in 2012], aspiring to get to 40,000 and failing,” Thomas said.
“I remember being on 37,000, trying to get to 40,000, and just getting over the line [in 2013].
“To think that we’re on 56,000 and on the cusp of achieving 60,000 still blows my mind, to be honest.
“That record of 55,750 was a lot about getting to Adelaide Oval and experiencing it, but this new record – and hopefully 60,000 – is reinforcement the Port Adelaide community is absolutely engaged as one on this journey we’re on, and we’re very proud of that.”
2015 has been a remarkable year for Port Adelaide’s membership, particularly with the creation of its first ever Wait List for reserved seats.
The allocation of reserved seats to members on the Wait List will commence in mid-March.
The club’s popular general admission membership packages – available to either 11 or three home games – is now the best value way to access to Power home games, and also afford the ability for members to 'upgrade' to a reserved seat through early pre-sale windows.

Daily general admission tickets will also provide access to games.
General admission memberships will also provide the chance to upgrade to a reserved seat in a special pre-sale window before each home game.
“We’re concentrating on the 11-game and 3-game general memberships, particularly around the opening games – there are some absolute blockbusters there with the Sydney, Hawthorn, Geelong and Collingwood matches,” Thomas said.
“General admission memberships are the best value way for people to access our home games now, and that will also give the chance to upgrade to reserved seats in the lead-up to each match.”
