IT IS only round two and many coaches have been given a stark reminder of how quickly things can changes on the Fantasy front, some for the better and some for the worse. Either way, it was another massive round in what looks like being one of the most exciting seasons to date.
Fantasy Pig
Adam Treloar was at it again with another massive outing. Following his impressive JLT Community Series performance, Treloar flagged how the '6-6-6' format suited his explosive speed and we all know how talented he is at finding space. Combine the pair and he has taken his game to the next level. He overcame a slow start against the Tigers to gather 39 possessions with six marks and seven tackles to lead all scorers for the round with 152. Heights we have rarely seen from him in the past despite his consistent brilliance over the years.
Honourable mention: If you thought week one was an anomaly, the second round of Travis Boak in career best form is enough to put him high on your priority list. The fear of Ollie Wines returning shouldn’t turn you off and the fact he can be picked as a forward lessens the risk. He had 34 possessions, six marks and nine tackles for 138.
Rage Trades
After narrowly missing out on the pig nomination last week, Stephen Coniglio personified the highs and lows of Fantasy and unfortunately demonstrated how quickly things can change. He went from hero to villain with the help Mark Hutchings who wore him like a glove, limiting the star midfielder to his lowest score in years of just 50 from 20 touches with no marks and just one tackle. I have no doubt he will bounce back with a big one this week and the return of Josh Kelly will certainly be welcomed by Coniglio’s owners in the hope he will attract some of the attention.
Honourable mention: Dustin Martin unfortunately has to be traded. He doesn’t look himself at the moment and the Tigers are undermanned and scoring very poorly as a team. He collected just 19 possessions in a very open game against the Pies and took four marks while alarmingly failing to register a tackle for a score of just 59. Hopefully he comes good later in the season and we pick him up for a bargain price.
Piglet
A couple of piglets stepped up to show the premiums how it’s done with phenomenal performances in just their second games. Geelong midfielder Charlie Constable collected an impressive 31 possessions and snagged a goal for 106, while Xavier Duursma took nine marks on his way to 102. These guys are in the must have bracket despite their huge price rises.
