Matthew Lokan on his side’s effort against the Crows:
“Adelaide came at us and threw everything at us, especially early in the game.
“I was really pleased with our boys and the effort to persist, and finish off the game the way we did.
Lokan on Peter Ladhams’ performance:
“He’s almost like an extra midfielder the way he plays.
“Around the ground he is very hard to stop. That goal he kicked on the run was like a half forward.
“We’ve been really pleased with the way he has developed this year, and really happy with the way he played on the weekend.
Lokan on Trent McKenzie’s season/performance:
“Trent has been outstanding - I think he would be high up in our best and fairest.
“His ability to mark the ball, and he obviously uses it so well. Recently he has been playing a really important defensive role for us.
“Him and Joel Garner flipped off Fogarty and Himmelberg - when he was down there - and I thought they both did a really good job.
“It was a big reason why we won the game.
Lokan on the challenge against Glenelg:
“We are really excited - Glenelg have been the most in-form side in the competition this year.
“They’ve beaten us twice, so we’ve got to really look hard at them this week and get a game-plan and style that suits.
“We are really looking forward to the opportunity of playing the best side in the competition.
Lokan on his side’s form:
“Our guys are riding the wave at the moment.
“The back half of the year has been really strong. The last two games we have lost have both been to Glenelg, so we are more than happy to keep playing.
“Having said that, I’d certainly like to win this weekend and have the week off before our next game.
Lokan on Glenelg’s strengths:
“For me, it’s their back half.
“Their tall defenders have been outstanding for them all year. Max Proud and Chris Curran have been outstanding, and young Will Gould, have certainly caused us some trouble the two times we’ve played them.
“We will put some work into those guys, and we’ve obviously got some pretty powerful forwards in our forward line that they will have to look after.
“For me, that’s where the game is going to be won and lost - if we can nullify their impact across half-back, I think that will work in our favour.
Lokan on his side’s commitment throughout the year and this finals campaign:
“It makes me quite cross how everyone complains about Adelaide and Port.
“I think it’s healthy for the competition. It gives the competition a really good balance. There are 10 teams in it with Adelaide and Port.
“I’m sick and tired of hearing about it to be honest. From our point of view, our guys are fully committed.
“I have really loved the attitude of the Port boys for the whole year, not just the finals period. We don’t have an issue - we love playing for the SANFL side.
“Obviously, the majority of the list would rather play AFL footy when the time comes and when the AFL side’s in, but at the moment we are really focussed on playing finals footy, and enjoying the opportunity.
