Port Adelaide Chairman David Koch has praised the passionate Port crowd for turning up in diabolical conditions during Saturday night’s disappointing loss to the Western Bulldogs.

Koch says despite the 25-point loss, the 25,623 people who braved the wintery conditions at Adelaide Oval should be applauded for their loyalty.

“Let’s praise 25,000 Port Adelaide members who were hailed on at one stage,” Koch told SEN SA’s Breakfast program.

“You know, it was a night of weather of almost biblical proportions.”

The Chairman understands the frustrations of the members and supporters, as some results have also frustrated him this year, but knows the club is heading in the right direction.

“Our members are frustrated, like I am,” Koch said.

“I don’t think I’m any different to every other member, I want a better performance, we all want a better performance, the coaches want a better performance, the players want a better performance.”

Koch recognises Port Adelaide members and fans are extremely passionate, and he encourages them to express their feelings, both positively and negatively towards the club.

“I do hear and see that reaction and quite rightly too,” he said.

“That’s not a bad thing. I’m not criticising anybody for doing it because as a member, you have every right to express your view. I’m the president and you’ve got every right to express it to me.

“But don’t think that it’s going unheard and we’re not trying to do anything about it.”

Port Adelaide has the chance to bounce back against cross-town rivals Adelaide on Saturday afternoon in Showdown XLVII, with the first bounce at 4.05pm.
