PORT ADELAIDE will wear its silver clash guernsey for the first time in a Showdown on Saturday afternoon when it takes on the Crows at Adelaide Oval.
Executive General Manager Matthew Richardson says with Adelaide electing to wear its dark navy Indigenous guernsey for the match, it left the club with no choice to try avoid a clash.
“The club’s preference is always to wear our traditional black home and away guernsey but when Adelaide contacted us just over a month ago to ask if we would wear our Indigenous guernsey to celebrate NAIDOC week we agreed subject to AFL approval,” he explained.
“However, given the likeness between the colours of the two guernseys and the fact that it is Adelaide’s home game, it was decided the only solution was to wear our silver clash guernsey.”
The Power has worn the guernsey three times this season, including in the Round 1 victory over Melbourne at the MCG.
