PORT ADELAIDE mourns the passing of 1951 premiership player Kevin Salvemini, and successful reserves coach Jock McKenzie.
Kevin Salvemini
Salvemini played 35 league games for Port Adelaide between 1947 and 1953, and played in the 1951 premiership on the half-forward flank, kicking one goal.
He was recently active in a number of reunions and get-togethers at Port Adelaide, as a member of the club's golden age of 10 premierships in 15 years between 1951 and 1965.
Jock McKenzie
The club also mourns the passing of great clubman 'Jock' McKenzie.
He was appointed captain-coach of Port Adelaide's 2nd XVIII in 1950 at just 21 years of age, and was successful in grooming some of the era's great players.
Under his nine-year tenure, the seconds played in every 'Association' (the reserves competition) finals series.
Included in that were premierships in 1952, and then a record four-in-a-row from 1955 to 1958. Minor premierships were won in 1952-1956.
Port Adelaide expresses its condolences to the Salvemini and McKenzie families, friends and former clubmates.
