PORT ADELAIDE'S five-game winning streak came to an end in disappointing fashion on Sunday after a 24-point loss to Glenelg at Alberton Oval.
The Magpies were outplayed by the top of the table Tigers from the opening quarter and failed to kick a goal until early in the third term which frustrated coach Matt Lokan.
“They were far too good for us today and dominated us from the start of the game to the end of the game,” he said.
“It certainly hurt (not kicking any goals in the first half) you have got to score to win.
“They are by far the best team we have played this year so credit to Glenelg.”
While Port took a run of good form into the clash Lokan said his side was five or 10 percent off around the ground.
“It is another good learning curve for our predominately young group that you can’t give any side an inch and if you do,” he said.
“While we are in good form, if you are off your game by five percent sides like Glenelg - who are in really good form themselves - can certainly get on top of you and I thought we were off today across the whole ground by five or 10 percent.
“Credit to our guys, in the last quarter we came back and got it back within 24 points which it didn’t feel like (a four-goal game) during the day.”
The Magpies have fallen from third to fourth and will be looking to get back on the winners list next Sunday when they travel to Noarlunga to play sixth place South Adelaide.
