AS Port Adelaide prepares to face Adelaide at Adelaide Oval in Round 8 of the 2018 AFL season, portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look back on the last time the sides met.

It was Round 20, 2017 and Port Adelaide was looking to move into the top four, against a Crows side which was seeking to secure a top-two finish.

In what will go down as a dismal encounter, the Power fell to its worst Showdown defeat, to the tune of 84 points.

Power coach Ken Hinkley described the performance as ‘terrible’, ‘unacceptable’, and ‘inexcusable’.

Port was kept to just one goal at half time and the wasteful Crows eventually got their goal kicking going, booting 13 second-half goals to six.

Robbie Gray did his best on a bad night, finishing with 33 touches, five tackles and a goal, while Paddy Ryder toiled all night against eventual Showdown Medallist Sam Jacobs, finishing with 40 hit-outs, eleven disposals and six tackles.

It was a night to forget for the Power, and it’ll want to respond in the first Showdown of 2018.
