NO Port Adelaide players received votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award after the Power’s disappointing loss to West Coast on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles’ Jack Darling and Jack Redden were adjudged to have had nearly perfect games by the coaches with each receiving nine out of a maximum ten votes.
Darling was dominant up forward, booting three goals and taking ten marks – six of them contested and four inside 50.
He also had 18 disposals and four tackles.
Redden had 32 touches in the midfield to go with seven marks, eight clearances six tackles and four inside 50s.
Andrew Gaff, who had a game-high 35 touches, was given six votes, while livewire Willie Rioli received three.
Eagles captain Shannon Hurn polled two votes and defender Tom Cole got one.
Nat Fyfe (Fremantle), James Sicily (Hawthorn), Jack Macrae (Western Bulldogs), Richard Douglas (Adelaide) and Dayne Zorko (Brisbane) all received the maximum ten votes from the AFL coaches for Round 7.
The full marks sees Fyfe join Hawthorn ball magnet Tom Mitchell at the top of the overall leaderboard, with Melbourne’s Max Gawn leading Collingwood’s Steele Sidebottom and Richmond’s Dustin Martin in the chasing pack.
