PORT ADELAIDE ruckman Paddy Ryder has won the Round 8 Mark of the Year nomination for his high-flying pack grab in the early stages of the last quarter in the thrilling Showdown win over Adelaide.
Ryder used teammate Ollie Wines as an unwitting stepladder to take the screamer, before running around to slot a vital goal and help the Power maintain the ascendancy.
The 30-year-old received 41.6% of the vote for Round 8, narrowly in front of Geelong’s Esava Ratugolea who got 40.4% for his strong-handed high leap against Collingwood.
The other nominee was West Coast’s Willie Rioli who received 17.9% of the vote.
Ryder is now eligible to win the $10,000 prize for the 2018 Woolworths Mark of the Year, which will be announced at the 2018 Brownlow Medal Count.
