THE Power gave opportunities to a number of new faces against St Kilda in its JLT Community Series opener.

Here, portadelaidefc.com.au has a look at each of these new faces (plus Riley Bonner having only played one game!)...

Riley Bonner (15 disposals, 73%, 5 rebound 50s)
Took the game on really well. His run through the centre of the ground in the third quarter will fill Power fans with excitement. Was able to run and carry with five rebound 50s, and also three inside 50s. A promising start to 2017.

Dan Houston (11 disposals, 100%, 3 rebound 50s, 3 marks)
Has only recently converted to half back, but Houston read the play beautifully and showed his composure by foot. His bullet pass to Paddy Ryder in the second quarter was a delight. Could be a bolter for one of the two rookie upgrades if he can keep that form up.

Sam Powell-Pepper (12 disposals, 67%, 2 clearances, 4 tackles)
Quiet start for the bustling midfielder, but worked his way into the game nicely. Showed his physicality with a big bump in the first half and his strength with a nice bit of play to fight through a tackle. Only played 67% game time, so he’ll be looking to build on that solid first-up performance.

Brett Eddy (6 disposals, 5 marks, 0.3, 1 goal assist)
The 27-year-old showed plenty in his first game, leading and marking well inside 50. The only area that let him down is also usually his biggest strength – his kicking. If he can convert those behinds into goals, he’ll be putting some real pressure on for a Round 1 selection.

Joe Atley (7 disposals, 71%, 2 marks, 2 clearances)
Looked comfortable at AFL level. Playing just a half, he looked composed in tight areas and clean with the ball. Atley did his stocks no harm with his first outing in Power colours.

Aidyn Johnson (2 disposals)
2016 was a year from hell with hamstring injuries for Johnson. So to have forced his way into this side was impressive in itself, so early in the year. Two disposals seems like a poor return, but Johnson’s speed and pressure were evident in his 34% time on ground. He showed some good glimpses and will benefit greatly from a taste of AFL footy.
