Port Adelaide’s Goals to End Hunger program with Australian Gas Networks has raised over $16,700 for Foodbank South Australia.
For every goal kicked by a Power player at the Adelaide Oval in 2017, Australian Gas Networks and Port Adelaide Football Club donated $100 towards Foodbank-provided meals for those in need.
The $16,700 raised for 167 goals will result in more than 32,000 meals being provided to feed the hungry across metropolitan Adelaide and beyond.
Almost 1230 kilograms of tinned fruit was donated by Port Adelaide supporters as part of Foodbank and Australian Gas Networks’ joint food drive in Round 3.
Foodbank SA chief executive Greg Pattinson said the Goals to End Hunger program will deliver a significant boost to the company’s food supplies.
“To meet the demand of food across the state, Foodbank SA, as the biggest food relief charity, relies on the generosity of the SA community and SA organisations that share a similar culture of wanting to make a difference,” he said.
“With the ongoing support of the Port Adelaide Football Club and its members, Foodbank SA has been able to increase the delivery of food to families in need right across the state.
“This year, the partnership between Port Adelaide and Australian Gas Network will donate $16700 to Foodbank, which will provide food for over 32000 meals.
“On behalf of all the staff and volunteers of Foodbank SA, I would like to thank the Port Adelaide family and Australian Gas Networks, they are two organisations that really have made a difference.”
