Where is the game being played?

At Jiangwan Stadium in Shanghai. The ground was built in 1934 and is predominantly used for amateur soccer games. The venue hosted its first AFL match in October 2010, when Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions played an exhibition game.

What time does the game start?

Sunday May 14, 1:15pm local time which is 3:15pm AEST. There will be plenty of festivities before the game starts with the Taste of Australia exhibition to be held outside the stadium from 9.00am local time. The festival will showcase Australia's best food and wines.

What is the ground's capacity?

Only 10,964 fans can cram into the venue. The game is a sell-out with the AFL expecting a mix of travelling Australians, fans from the Asian region and plenty of locals to attend.

How can fans get to the game?

Jiangwan Stadium Station is the closest train station and is on line 10 (the purple line). Take line 2 to Nanjing Road (E) and then switch to line 10. Alternatively you can take a taxi - just make sure you allow enough time to battle the Shanghai traffic.

Who's home game is it?

Despite the whole venture being Port Adelaide's idea, this is actually a Gold Coast home game due to the Power's contractual commitment to hosting their home games at Adelaide Oval.

There has been some tension between the two clubs with Port Adelaide pushing to wear their home guernsey for the historic clash. The Suns stood firm though and will be wearing their red and yellow home guernsey, which has the same colours as China's flag.

How big are the travelling squads?

Port Adelaide and Gold Coast will both take squads of 25.

Will this be a regular home and away game?

Apart from the fact it will be played on foreign soil, the game will essentially be the same as every other round eight clash. The length of the game, breaks and interchange cap will be as normal. The only difference is it won't be played in Australia!

What's good to eat in Shanghai?

Dumplings. Dumplings. And more dumplings. Best to brush up on your chopstick skills before you leave. And remember, never stick your chopsticks vertically in a bowl of rice or noodles, as it is the symbol of death.

Training times

Both clubs will hold open training sessions at Jiangwan Stadium on Saturday, May 13. Gold Coast's run starts at 10am, with the Power to follow at 1:30pm.

Umpires

Field umpires will be Brendan Hosking, Matt Nicholls and Sam Hay. Hayden Gavine is the emergency field umpire. The umpires fly out to China on Thursday.

A very special AFL Record

The round eight AFL Record will be printed in two versions, one in English, the other in Mandarin.

Australian coverage of the game

This match will be broadcast by Channel 7 with Bruce McAvaney, Hamish McLachlan and Leigh Matthews to call. Radio station FIVEaa will be broadcasting the game live as well.
