PORT ADELAIDE has kick-started its JLT Community Series campaign, and its final preparations for the season proper, with a win over Port Adelaide.
More seriously, the 4,600 that turned out to see Port's annual pre-season trial game were treated to a number of big marks, hits and goals.
There was change on the field too: Jackson Trengove and Nathan Krakouer playing up forward, the first glimpse of national draft picks Sam Powell-Pepper, Joe Atley and Willem Drew in action, and some clever play from the club's SANFL contracted players.
Despite the 'black' team controlling the game to the end, eventually running out 50-point winners, the pluck, courage and defensive pressure from the more youthful 'white' side was very encouraging.
