Ticket sales are tracking strongly and the AFL is predicting a roaring crowd of between seventy and eighty thousand.
Port Adelaide’s General manager of consumer business Matthew Richardson said the club is excited by the number of supporters travelling to Melbourne.
“Our members and supporters have been amazing all year and this is just another example of it,” said Richardson.
Nine buses organized by the club and a further four buses organized by the Port Adelaide cheer squad will leave Alberton Oval from the Allan Scott headquarters at 10pm sharp Friday night.
Supporters who are travelling with the club are expected to check in at the Allan Scott Power Headquarters, Brougham Place, Alberton at 9pm on Friday night.
All charters organized by the club are now full and Richardson is encouraging supporters who still wish to travel to Melbourne for the game to search for alternative options.
"All our buses are sold out, we won't be doing any more, we just encourage people to consider all options, including the AFL's Any game, Anywhere packages or the club has a limited number of corporate travel and function packages left.”
Many supporters are expected to fly to Melbourne and Virgin Australia has put on extra flights for the occasion.
The train from Adelaide to Melbourne is another popular option; Great Southern Rail has put on extra carriages for people who wish to make the eleven-hour trip by train.
However, most supporters have opted to make the eight-hour return trip by car.
The charter busses will return to Alberton in time for supporters to watch the Magpies take on Norwood in the SANFL grand final at Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon.
“It is a great time to be a Port Adelaide supporter,” Said Richardson.
