Greats' Unique Captain Choice
I GOT one back over Boaky this week, with the Greats recording a narrow 65-point win over Team Boak.
I do have some issues though, with Boaky, Barry Hall and Daniel Stewart all out of my side this week! I’ve got seven trades left and a fairly handy $271,400 in the bank, so I’m hoping the trades I’ve made turn out to be master strokes.
To avoid a zero in the midfield I’ve had to trade out Boaky. Sorry mate, you’ve served me well but I couldn’t afford a zero this week. In Boaky’s place comes Jimmy Bartel. Coming off the back of a 139 the Brownlow Medalist is hitting some good form and is a proven Dream Team jet. I’ll track the progress of how this trade turns out throughout the year.
Out of my forward line goes big bad bustling Barry and in comes Alan Didak. He looked sharp here at AAMI Stadium last Friday night and is one of the better performing forwards in the competition.
My team isn’t quite complete yet but a lot of Dream Teamers are getting close to done. With that in mind, captain choice now becomes very, very important. I’ll run through a couple of popular options this week.
Leigh Montagna is a very good bet if you have him, with six scores out of the past eight over 125. But beware, he only averages 86 against the Pies and they have been known to keep the big guns quiet!
Jimmy Bartel was very close to being my captain this week. 139 last week and an average of 104 against the Crows looks very tempting. If you’ve got him, don’t hesitate to give him the big C!
Luke Hodge has been up and down like a yo-yo over the past four weeks but this week looks to be his ‘on’ week and as the Hawks are playing the struggling Lions, he’s a tasty captain choice.
Dane Swan is as close to a sure thing for a hundred as captain as you can get - 9 out of the past 10 weeks he’s hit three figures. His average the past two weeks? A lazy 151. Get on him!
All these options are great, but this week I’ve gone for a smoky because I want to make up some ground on Boaky. This week I’ve gone for Sam Gilbert. His form has been solid without being spectacular, but think about this, he scored a whopping 152 the last times the Saints played the Pies. The style of game you can expect will see a lot of chip to chip to keep the footy and this is when he excels. It’s a risk, but one I’m hopeful will pay off.
Congratulations to Dave Eriksen whose team turbopower topped the charts in the Official Pizza Hut Power Dream Team Group this week with a big score of 2,364. Dave will get to enjoy a week’s worth of free pizza thanks to Pizza Hut!
