PORT ADELAIDE chief executive officer Keith Thomas has outlined some exciting initiatives Port members and supporters can look forward to as the club celebrates its 150th year.
Speaking at the 150 years launch event on Sunday afternoon at the packed Pirate Life Brewery, Thomas unveiled the club’s playing guernseys for 2020.
Port will wear its original blue and white hoops for its birthday clash, as well as, the traditional Prison Bar guernsey in the home Showdown and in the SANFL.
“We have our birthday game to look forward to,” Thomas said
“The fixture is not out yet, but there will be a birthday game. There will be a motorcade of all of our past legends. There will be live entertainment. Past players.
“There will be plenty of opportunity interact with those past legends on the day.”
Port will launch a book that brilliantly encapsulates the club’s past, and highlights the legends that have had a such a big impact at Alberton.
“There is a commemorative book that has been written,” Thomas explained.
“We’ve been working on this thing for over two years. It’s absolutely fantastic.
“It’s got letters from Fos Williams. It’s got Travis Boak’s rookie contract. All of those types of things. It’s a wonderful, wonderful piece about our history. That will launch in November.
“The special thing about that is if you order one between November and January, then you will become part of the book. Your photo will become part of the official production.”
The chief executive also explained to the 2,000 fans that the club had joined forces with a film company to produce two documentaries visually detailing the history and tradition of the Port Adelaide Football Club.
“We have two documentary films,” Thomas said.
“A short version will be played on Channel Seven just ahead of round 1 in 2020, which tells the story of the club.
“Then there is a unique cinematic documentary that is being built. It will play, we hope, as one of the lead items of the Adelaide Film Festival in October next year.
“The legendary people of the club - they are all in it. That is one to really look forward to. It’s a wonderful piece.”
