PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley is confident Angus Monfries will reclaim his spot on the Power's list in 2017, once the small forward’s season-long ban is served.
There has been speculation that Port Adelaide would not offer Monfries a deal for next year but Hinkley told RSN the 29-year-old would be with the club for at least another season.
"There would have to be something significantly different to what I know today for that not to be the case," the Port coach said.
Hinkley revealed he had breakfast with Monfries on Wednesday and had stayed in close touch with both the former Bombers now with Port Adelaide who are serving suspensions.
"I have stayed in touch with both Gus and Paddy [Ryder] a lot throughout their suspensions, more in a welfare and personal sense to make sure they are going OK," Hinley said.
"I wanted to make sure they we're handling a pretty difficult situation and both boys, so far, are in pretty good spirits."
