PAUL FIEGERT is not your typical pig farmer, nor your run-of-the-mill Port Adelaide supporter.

This 'Club 1870' member has an impressive collection of Port Adelaide memorabilia and an enthusiasm that sees his Eastern Stand seat filled every home game.

And he combines his love for pork and the Power when he goes to the footy as well.

So much so that he sports a cap featuring a Power-esque logo with a pig on it - the work of fellow fan David Reu, who runs club sponsor Vaucluse Livestock Equipment and Animal Production Services.

The nifty headwear acts as promotional material for David’s business and a not-so-subtle nod to his favourite team.

So Port, and pork, are pretty important in Paul's life.

With the help of his two sons, he currently runs 350 sows from farrow to finish. The pigs are then sold to the fresh meat market via Primo at Port Wakefield.

Paul was never a big football fan until he started a footy tipping competition for his business back in 2001, where he treated his workers to a corporate box viewing of a Showdown as a prize.

For Paul, it was love at first sight.

“I just loved the passion. I bought a five-game pass the next year and in 2003, I became a full member,” he told portadelaidefc.com.au

“I first took up the offer [to be a Club 1870 member] when the Maggies were going rough and I wanted to help out where I could. But I have loved the extra events held throughout the year, giving a closer insight into the club that I love."

After 13 years of Port Adelaide membership, Paul has witnessed the highs and lows that comes with supporting an AFL team.

But as Port Adelaide fans will agree, Paul’s favourite moment was the 2004 Grand Final, which he describes as "life changing."

As for his favourite players, Paul has a few standout picks.

“My all-time favourite is Chad Cornes, just for the passion and excitement he brought," he said.

"With current players, it’s hard to pick a favourite. I love Robbie and Chad’s freakishness, Pittard’s dash and dare and Ollie’s passion and strength gives him the nod, [and] Charlie is fast becoming a new favourite."

Paul’s personal museum of memorabilia represents his continual support of the Port Adelaide Football Club.

Josh Mahoney’s 2004 premiership guernsey and Chad Cornes’s 2007 Planet Teal jumper hang proudly on the walls inside of Paul’s house.

He also owns the 2001 pre-season premiership jumpers of Kane Cornes, Peter Burgoyne, Josh Carr, Darryl Wakelin and Che-Cockatoo Collins, as well as Daniel Pearce’s Rising Star football boots and numerous signed footballs.

He has come a long way for someone who wasn’t football-inclined in the beginning.

As for the 2016 AFL Premiership Season, Paul is still confident.

“As a Port Supporter we aren’t satisfied till we get the premiership cup," he says.

"I believe if we can start to string some games together and get some confidence into the group, we are still going to give the competition a good shake where it counts."
