From the CEO: March 21
The latest update from CEO Keith Thomas in the lead-up to the historic first Showdown at Adelaide Oval.
Round 2.
Never has a single game of football been so ineptly described.
In reality, we are knocking on the door of one of the most significant days in our Club’s history.
Planning is complete and just the final preparations remain, before we march onto the magnificent new Adelaide Oval.
There has been a lot said about the significance of this event to our Club, and a lot more will be spoken about it next week in the lead up to the game. So, I’m not going to dwell on that further today.
I sense that today we need to be more practical. How am I going to get to the game, where’s my seat, can I still get in to the game etc…so here are few tips and reminders that may be helpful.
Tickets
Members season tickets have started to arrive in the post this week.
They are late because the stands needed to be completed, but you should have them by mid next week.
If you have purchased a membership in the past few days, your tickets will be available from the ticket collection box at Adelaide Oval.
You can still gain entry to the Showdown, but only through the purchase of a season members ticket.
If, for whatever reason, your tickets do not arrive as expected by mid-next week contact our Member Services team but be assured a replacement ticket will be organised for you to collect on the day of the game – we’ll make sure you’re there
Car Parking
There is less car parking at Adelaide Oval. You will need to plan carefully, but great member options are available.
Our partners UPark have provided a range of options in the City at great rates. Check out the details here.
The Footy Express Service is available in 2014, with the drop off/pick up point on King William Road.
Trains are also a great option at Adelaide Oval.
Check here for more details, but my advice is to plan well and get to the game early next week.
Showdown Pre Game
Stadium will open at 1.30pm. Come in early and soak up the pre match atmosphere. I guarantee you that we are hell bent on putting the fun back into footy. You will not want to miss this!
Get in early, find a park, enjoy the view from the bridge, find your seat, wander around the precinct, have some fun with the kids in the new kid zone, listen to some music on the plaza and then wander back in for the Legend’s game and Opening Ceremony. And then it’s game on!
Or…you could join the Port Adelaide army in Rundle Mall and march to the Oval as one!
Either way, it’s going to be a blast!
Post Game
There will be two post game activities to attend.
The Magarey Room in the Riverbank Stand (South) will feature player and coach interviews.
From 7.30pm our Live At The Drive concert series will kick off at Memorial Drive. This is a great opportunity to keep the party rolling and for just $30 for members and $40 for non members, it is fantastic value. I’d encourage you to drop in and check it out…You Am I and Spiderbait are ARIA award winning Australian bands. It’s going to be a great show!
Power Point Volunteers
When you get to the ground, look out for our squad of Power Point volunteers. They are passionate Port Adelaide people who are volunteering to help our members have a great time at Adelaide Oval. They will be able to answer any questions you might have about the venue or your seating. They will be dressed in white, and will be very friendly!!
Any Other Questions
portadelaidefc.com.au and weareportadelaide.com.au (gameday hub) are full of all the information you need to know. Keep an eye on them all week.
If you have any other questions at all, please contact us at membership@pafc.com.au and we will do our very best to answer them.
The Last Word
Enjoy the moment!
Our boys will be there to do us proud and win the four points. The game is going to be a beauty.
Expect that there will be a few teething problems. This is new to us all, and everyone involved will be doing their best to make this a great day.
But if something goes wrong, take it easy and find someone who can help you- there will be someone there.
I’ll be in touch again next week. In the meantime, plan your Adelaide Oval experience wisely! Take care
