CHARLIE DIXON had not missed a beat of pre-season up until Monday afternoon, according to the Power's head of high performance Darren Burgess.

The 202cm ruckman had a clean-up operation on Tuesday to repair a meniscus in his left knee that was damaged at training on Monday.

Dixon's only other blip during the pre-season was an awkward landing on his other knee three weeks ago; although briefly painful, that incident caused no problems for the key position forward.

Burgess and his high performance team will keep Dixon 'off legs' for a fortnight before he hits the track again.

From there, the Power are targeting a possible return against Richmond in their third NAB Challenge game on March 10.

"He's done every session - hasn't missed one - we've been really happy with what he's been doing and he's in fantastic shape," Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au

"He'll probably need only two weeks off his legs, in that time he'll be on the bike, swimming and whatever else we can do to keep his fitness up.

"We're aiming for Round 3 of the NAB [Challenge] but our main priority is Round 1 ... all of our attention will be focussed towards that."

Port Adelaide plays St Kilda in the opening round of the 2016 AFL Premiership Season at the Adelaide Oval on Easter Sunday 27 March at 2:50pm.
