portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look at who’s in the mix to play in the Power’s clash against Carlton at Etihad Stadium this Sunday.

Port Adelaide

Robbie Gray and Alipate Carlile are on the road to recovery and both are in the mix to be available for selection in Round 8.

Gray has missed two games to a hamstring injury while Carlile has been sidelined for several weeks after undergoing wrist surgery.

Both are set to undergo fitness tests later in the week, according to Port Adelaide’s head of high performance Darren Burgess.

“Robbie and Bobby will need to pass fit this week, we’ve been pretty comfortable with how Bobby has progressed and we think Robbie will come very close,” Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

Sam Gray could also be knocking on the door of an AFL return this week against the Blues, depending on match ups. He was squeezed out of the Power’s Round 7 team and named as the first emergency player, indicating he’s on the cusp of a recall.

Carlton

The Navy Blues could see two players return to their senior side from injury this week, in Blaine Boekhorst and Simon White.

Boekhurst was struck down by a hamstring injury some weeks ago and has recovered well, according to Carlton Head of Football Andrew McKay.

“He’s progressively increased his load over the last week or so in full training. We’ll wait until the end of the week to assess him before we can give him the all clear to be available,” he told carltonfc.com.au.

White was a late withdrawal from their clash with Collingwood on Saturday due to a corked shin.

“It was still quite sore and tight and was inhibiting his running so we had to withdraw him late, unfortunately,” McKay said.

“He’ll get some rehab again this week, he’ll join in on training – we’re confident he’ll be available this week.”

Both will need to prove their fitness to be available for selection at the end of the week.

New recruit Jacob Weitering and ruckman Andrew Philips remain sidelined with respective shoulder and hamstring issues in Round 8.
