PORT ADELAIDE has omitted Chad Wingard, Alipate Carlile, Jesse Palmer and Dougal Howard from its original 29-man squad for Saturday's NAB Challenge game against Melbourne.
Brad Ebert, Cam O'Shea, Karl Amon, Darcy Byrne-Jones, Aaron Young, Brendon Ah Chee and Sam Gray will start on the bench for the Power.
Port Adelaide's head of high performance Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au Wingard suffered hamstring tightness at a training session last week, and the decision was made to hold him over this week.
"Wingard had a tight hamstring and we made the call to keep him out [of the match against Melbourne]," Burgess said.
"Had it been a Round 1 game we would've played him, but in the NAB Challenge it's not worth risking.
"He'll be fine for 'NAB three.'"
