Port Adelaide’s first pick in the 2016 National Draft is No. 14, and it has produced some memorable players over the years.

Since Port Adelaide joined the AFL, eleven of those selected with this pick have been from Victoria.

Originally drafted by Essendon, Port Adelaide forward Angus Monfries was taken at Pick No. 14 in the 2004 National Draft.

He played 150 games and kicked 165 goals at Essendon before returning home to Port Adelaide in 2013.

Monfries career–best goal kicking performance came at Port Adelaide, when he kicked seven goals against Geelong in Round 20, 2013.

Pick No. 14 also produced North Melbourne legend and current West Coast Eagles coach Adam Simpson.

Playing 306 games for North, Simpson won two premierships with the club in 1996 and 1999, and captained the club from 2004 to 2008.

In 2014, Simpson was appointed as the Eagles' head coach, and in 2015 coached them into a grand final against Hawthorn.
