AHEAD of their meeting in Round 11 of the 2018 AFL Premiership Season, we thought we would look back at one of our favourite clashes between Port Adelaide and HawthornGold Coast.

Both sides had started the 2015 season with two losses and a win and the match up had been eagerly anticipated after they had played out a nail-biting preliminary final in 2014 in which Hawthorn held on for a three-point win.

There was clearly some ill-feeling for the Power in the ANZAC Round game and the home side burst out of the blocks at the Adelaide Oval with seven unanswered first-term goals.

It was a remarkable return for a Power side missing Robbie Gray and Ollie Wines due to injury.

In his 100th game for the club, Jay Schulz was incredible in front of goal with five straight majors.

The game was played at a ferocious pace and Port was irresistible, building up a 58-point lead in the second quarter.

But the reigning premiers were always going to fight back and they came home strong with ten second-half goals to three and appeared set to steal an unlikely victory before the Power held on for an eight-point win.

Skipper Travis Boak was among his side’s best players with 30 disposals and five tackles, earning him the Peter Badcoe VC Medal.
