WHILE Port Adelaide’s battle to climb the ladder won’t see it crack the top eight by Round 23, there is another ladder the Power is fighting to climb – the average attendance table.
Currently, Richmond leads the league with home game attendance, ahead of Collingwood and the Crows.
Port Adelaide is ranked fourth.
With a revised stadium deal before the season delivering a greater return to both the Power and Crows every time a fan scans through the gates, every set of buttocks on seats matters at the Adelaide Oval.
The opportunity to hold onto fourth spot on the crowd average is critical with two games to go.
To hold its average steady, Port Adelaide would need to have a 'giant' crowd of 45,546 against GWS.
If that figure was reached, it would exceed the biggest ever crowd the Giants have played before by nearly 700 (the Giants crowd was 44,770 posted against the Crows on Easter Sunday in 2014).
Here are some other reasons to see the game (or give your membership to a mate so they can):
- Port Adelaide’s season isn’t over, and as Ken Hinkley said last Saturday, there’s pride on the line for the Power playing group in the final four games.
- This is the first time Port Adelaide will play the Giants at the Adelaide Oval.
- It’s a Saturday twilight fixture, which means the game finishes around 7:00pm – perfect for a night on the town, dinner, or drinks with friends after the game.
- Club legend Russell Ebert will have a bronze statue unveiled prior to the game, which will be viewable by the public in the eastern plaza.
- An entire seating bay at the ground will win tickets to Asiafest on 2-11 October.
