THE ABORIGINAL AFL Academy run out of Alberton has passed another major milestone, with its first product being named in the NAB AFL Under-18 All-Australian team.

Brandon Parfitt played for the Northern Territory in the recent Under-18 National Championships and was named on the interchange of this year's All-Australian team.

The midfielder was one of five bottom-aged players to be selected in this year's team, and the only territorian.

Aboriginal AFL Academy coach Eugene Warrior told portadelaidefc.com.au Parfitt's talent was unquestioned.

"The fact he's been named an All-Australian, as a 16-year-old, speaks volumes of where he rates," Warrior said.

"He's part of our Academy, but because he's clearly a talent, he's spent most of the year playing for Brenton Sanderson's AFL-AIS Academy team, plus commitments with the NT Thunder and North Adelaide.

"He still does all the Aboriginal Academy's education programs - he's quiet, respectful, and goes about his business really well and sets a high standard.

"Our whole team is really excited for him getting this honour."

Several Aboriginal AFL Academy players represented both South Australia and the Northern Territory in this year's national championships.

Jamie Hampton and Javaad Anderson - the younger brothers of GWS's Curtly and Hawthorn's Jed - were joined by Nick Yarran and recent SANFL league debutant at Norwood Davin Ferreira in the Northern Territory team.

Wayne Milera, Kieran Agius-Lebois and last year's Aboriginal Academy player Isiah McKenzie played for SA.

The All-Australian team was selected by the AFL's talent manager Kevin Sheehan, talent football manager Michaek Ablett, NAB AFL Academy coach Brenton Sanderson and football projects officer Lenny Hayes and club recruiters Chris Drain (Port Adelaide), Michael Agresta (Sydney Swans), Dom Milesi (Collingwood) and Simon Dalrymple (Western Bulldogs).
