IN town for the three-day World Tennis Challenge, some of the biggest names in international tennis have taken to the Adelaide Oval wearing the colours of their favourite football club.
John McEnroe, Marcos Baghdatis, Michael Chang, Goran Ivanisevic and Mikhail Youzhny donned Port Adelaide’s home guernsey and made a short walk across the Oval’s southern plaza to have a kick and a catch with Power legend Warren Tredrea and current player Jay Schulz on Tuesday morning.
They are the latest tennis stars to wear Power colours with Chris Evert pulling the guernsey on for the first time in 2014 and Andre Agassi having also done so previously.
The five tennis stars will hit centre court at Memorial Drive on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night.
Port Adelaide has a strong association with world tennis with top shelf international coaches and personalities Darren Cahill, Roger Rasheed and emerging Australian on-court talent Thanasi Kokkinakis all official club ambassadors.
We don't mind John McEnroe's textbook kicking action, even in a pair of Chucks.
