PORT Adelaide midfielder Tom Logan says skipper Warren Tredrea is not to blame for Saturday night’s two-point loss to North Melbourne.

North Melbourne skipped away in the final term with three quick goals, but the Power made a late surge through Daniel Motlop and, with 20 seconds to go, Tredrea took an uncontested mark on the boundary line at the northern end of AAMI Stadium.

Tredrea’s shot from the difficult angle missed its target and North Melbourne maintained possession from the kick-in until the final siren sounded.

Logan said inaccuracy throughout the game, not at the end, had cost Port Adelaide the win.

“If you go back to the first quarter you’ll see we probably missed four goals from straight in front, so you can’t really put the loss down to Tredders,” he said.

"His shot was on the boundary line and it was a really tough shot. There were chances [to win] earlier in the game and we didn’t take them.”

Logan added to his consistent season on Saturday night with 25 possessions and seven marks. The gutsy onballer said the Port Adelaide players were understandably ‘down’ immediately after the harrowing loss, but were looking forward to next Sunday’s Showdown.

Adelaide chalked up its fourth-straight loss on Saturday while Port Adelaide’s narrow defeat was the club’s fifth in a row. With the exception of a draw, one team will snap its losing streak next week.

“I don’t think we’ve forgotten how to win,” Logan said.

“Unfortunately, we’ve lost eight games by less than 15 points or something, so we can’t quite get there at the moment. We’re trying hard and hopefully by the end of the season we can have a few wins.

“The boys are excited about next week. We’ve got the Crows and we always play hard and tough against them, so that’s what we’ll do again this week.”
