RICHMOND will wear yellow and black against Port Adelaide this weekend, but not how you might think.

The Tigers will debut their predominantly yellow clash strip in Adelaide this weekend, introduced to provide a more distinct alternative when they play away from home.

Unveiled for the first time in February, Tigers CEO Brendon Gale told richmondfc.com.au the change in clash strip was brought about following last year's elimination final.

“The AFL asked us to develop a new clash strip after some issues were encountered last year – most notably in the elimination final against Port Adelaide,” Gale said at the time.

“The most critical factor for us, and I’m sure our fans, was that we retained a jumper that was Yellow and Black, and that it bore a sash. The reverse of our traditional strip gives us both outcomes.”

In the elimination final, Port Adelaide was instructed to wear its white clash jumper, and following discussions with AFL House donned its heritage 'wharf pylon' guernsey, despite being the home side.

That directive was issued due to Richmond's then-clash guernsey, approved by the AFL, being insufficiently different from the Power's home jumper.

For the record, Port Adelaide will wear its regular black jumper this weekend.

Neither of these jumpers will appear on Sunday afternoon...
