FOOTBALL RIVALRY has been holstered for a week in South Australia and Ken Hinkley is hoping Port Adelaide's cross-town rivals perform well at Domain Stadium on Saturday night.
Rarely would a coach of either South Australian team wish the other well (unless there was late-season ladder position on the line) but Hinkley's wishes encapsulate the nature of the Port-Crows rivalry following the passing of Phil Walsh, who worked at both clubs.
Some things are bigger than footy, and Hinkley borrowed a Walshism to express his hopes for the Crows on Saturday night.
"I heard the Crows boys say 'Get the job done' [during the week]," Hinkley said after Thursday night's narrow win over Collingwood.
"Gee, I'm hoping Tex and the boys can get the job done."
JOB DONE: Power wins for former assistant
Port Adelaide channelled Walsh's spirit against the Magpies, playing a tough and hard game against one of the AFL's form sides.
Ollie Wines - a prodigy of Walsh during his return stint to Alberton in 2014 - exemplified that spirit with a top shelf inside performance with 33 disposals - 17 contested.
"It's been a really tough week ... I had a really good relationship with Walshy, he was only there with me for 12 months, obviously being midfield coach he had a lot to do with me," Wines told FIVEaa on Friday.
"We forged a great relationship, so that game meant a lot, to a lot of us."

Families unite on Wednesday
The SA football public will be able to remember Walsh at a public memorial from 3:00pm Wednesday at the Adelaide Oval.
Hinkley spoke of the value of hanging tough and finding comfort in family, including his club family at Port Adelaide.
Wednesday will be another opportunity for two football families to come together once more.
"We stuck together, and that's what you do, I think, when it's going tough, you stick with your family," Hinkley said.
"Port Adelaide is one big family.
"Phil's been part of lots of groups and lots of families."
HINKLEY: Power coach embraces Port family
On Saturday night there wouldn't be many Power fans who are not secretly cheering the Crows on.
