WHAT an amazing game it was on Saturday night and it was even better to finally have the Power in the winners list! But for us AFL Fantasy coaches it was all about the points.
Our 150 gamer Brad Ebert has continued his great start to the year with 111 points. He has risen in price now to $616,000 which is a jump of $56k. Hopefully you brought him in before these big jumps in price. Pre-season I had a lot of people ask me about Matthew Broadbent.
I hope all those people had him this week, his 113 was a fantastic score for him. Over the past five years his averages have been around the 60-80 range with the last three over 72. At a price of $416,000 he may be someone that you look to bring in if you have an underperformer in your back line. His average of 79.3 this year is up with his best.
Robbie Gray may not have had his best ever AFL Fantasy night with just 71 points, but he did have a huge impact on the result of the game with those last two clearances around goals. But if you have Robbie in AFL Fantasy, stick firm, don’t even think about trading him because if you do, that will be the week he goes huge!
The other player that had as much fantasy hype around him (maybe even more) was Nathan Krakouer. When he was upgraded and named last week the Fantasy community erupted with excitement. At his extremely cheap starting price he was on a lot of teams just so they could balance the books. His 60 points on Saturday night was just what everyone had hoped for. His price has already risen by $15k but is still relatively cheap at $157,000 so if you have a non performing rookie in either the forwards or midfield he will be worth bringing in if he is named again this week.
On a disappointing note, those of you with Ollie Wines will need to trade him out. His injury will see him out for 4-6 weeks and you can’t have all that money on the bench. For Fantasy coaches the only saving grace was that his injury was late in the game and he already had 80 points which meant he only dropped by $1k and at a price of $550k you should be able to go to a good player.
On other players around the league it looks as if there will be some trading required! If you have Jimmy Bartel he will be out for a while so you will need to move him on. Unfortunately, unlike Wines, is injury was in the first quarter and his 8 points saw his value drop by $49k to just $511k. I hope you all held your nerve with Dayne Beams from the Lions.
He finally rewarded coaches with a 126 point performance after two sub par scores of 83 and 53. Hopefully if you have him he can keep it up. Jordan Lewis has staked a claim for being your captain every week with a score of 152 (let’s hope that he doesn’t do this next week though, I predict that Kane Cornes might just keep him quiet… hopefully).
Rookies performed for us again this week with Adam Oxley 90, Jack Newnes 94, Patrick Cripps 81, Cam Ellis-Yolmen 94, Aaron Vandenberg 75, Angus Brayshaw 65, Isaac Heeney 65 and Adam Saad 65. Keep all these guys hanging around your team for now as they will all continue to increase in value. It won’t be long until we need to start looking at these guys as cash cows that we need to cash in to upgrade to a full premium team. Keep an eye on the teams to make sure they are all still playing. Heeney is one that worries me after hurting his back and being subbed out. Hopefully he still plays this week.
Best of luck this week and as always stay glued to social media for any information on any of your players. You can find me at www.dreamteamtalk.com on Friday and on twitter @pkd73.
