THREE members of last season's vanquished preliminary final team have missed the cut in News Corp's best side for the Power this pre-season.

Tom Jonas, Andrew Moore and Cameron O'Shea were all chopped out of the Power's evaluation, which appeared alongside 17 other predicted teams across News Corp's digital sites last week.

Replacing them in the side are Kane Mitchell, Patrick Ryder and Jarman Impey.

While the Power's prelim final team was selected with a view to the best match-ups against the Hawks late last year, it nonetheless was chosen from a fit and firing team list.

News Corp's team didn't take into account current suspensions (none for the Power) or injuries, describing it as the best team "based purely on each club's senior list".

Port Adelaide's second preliminary final team v Hawthorn, 2014

B: Jackson Trengove, Alipate Carlile, Tom Jonas
HB: Matthew Broadbent, Jack Hombsch, Jasper Pittard
C: Kane Cornes, Ollie Wines, Hamish Hartlett

Considering Jonas, one of the Power's eight leadership players, ranked in the top 10 during the club's 2014 best and fairest count and played every game in 2014, Moore played in the final eight games of the season (including as sub in two finals) and O'Shea played all bar one match (due to match-ups) after Round 19, News Corp's team at least shows the Power has promising depth this season.

Jonas, for one, isn't taking too much notice of early team predictions, but the member of the Power's leadership group might use it as a little extra motivation for the remainder of pre-season.

"[Players] probably don't take too much notice of it, but obviously it would be nice to be in there," he said.

"I might use that as a little bit of fuel, but everyone's got an opinion."
