Fremantle trio Nick Suban, Hayden Ballantyne and Tendai Mzungu will likely face fitness tests ahead of Sunday's opening round clash with Port Adelaide at Domain stadium.

Suban, who suffered a hamstring injury during the final pre-season hit out against the West Coast Eagles was consequently subbed out of the match, but has recovered better than expected.

Tendai Mzungu has been given the all-clear to play this weekend, should the utility pass a fitness test according to sports science manager Jason Weber.

“Those guys have done a fantastic job in their rehab” Weber told fremantlefc.com.au.

“Some of the issues they’ve faced haven’t been that significant so they’ve trained really well”

Meanwhile All- Australian forward, Hayden Ballantyne is racing the clock to be fit for the round one match after suffering a calf strain during the NAB Challenge loss to Sydney over pre-season.

Other key players that need to prove their fitness are Hayden Crozier (ankle) and key forward Matt Taberner (Achilles) as they look to cement their spot in a strong Ross Lyon team.
