Some of Port Adelaide’s biggest names helped Key Partner FIVEaa officially launch its coverage of the 2012 AFL premiership season.

The event - which has become an annual highlight of the lead-up to footy season - was held on the evening of Thursday 29 March on the spectacular Sky Deck on the rooftop of the Pinnacle On Pirie building. Sporting personalities joined the “FIVEaaFL” callers, station executives and staff along with sponsors as the sun set over the city skyline.

The Power was well represented at the launch, with senior coach Matthew Primus, general manager football Peter Rohde, chief executive Keith Thomas and players Jackson Trengove, Travis Boak and Jay Schulz involved in the formalities.

Kym Dillon hosted the evening and interviews were conducted by FIVEaa Sports Show hosts Graham Cornes and Steven Rowe, who spoke positively about Port Adelaide’s pre-season and the vibe heading into the AFL’s Opening Round.

Primus was interviewed on air by Cornesy and Rowey who broadcast their drive time show from the function. The coach was also interviewed on stage in front of the crowd, while Jackson Trengove was interviewed by Magpies legend and FIVEaa caller Tim Ginever.

Despite the impressive sporting and media line-up, it was our mascot Thunda Power who had the biggest impact. Thunda was there to greet people on arrival and even made himself available for photo opportunities too.

FIVEaa is a long-serving official broadcast partner of the AFL having renewed its agreement with the AFL for a further five years at the end of the 2011 season.

Thanks to the players and staff who represented us on the night, taking time out of their busy schedule leading into Round 1 and thanks also to FIVEaa for its ongoing support of Port Adelaide and football in South Australia.
