JAKE NEADE is a gun defensive forward and will probably start Saturday’s second and final International Rules test on the field according to Australia's assistant coach Andrew McLeod.

The former Port Adelaide SANFL premiership player and Adelaide Crows champion lauded Neade’s defensive pressure and ability up forward despite playing mostly during the latter stages of the game due to the glut of small forwards crammed into the Australian side.

“Because of the rotations, Jake didn’t get a lot of game time early,” McLeod told FIVEaa.

“We’ve got a truckload of small forwards … so how do you fit them all in the mix?”

McLeod was particularly impressed with the defensive pressure exhibited by Neade on the field which was highlighted with the only six-pointer for the Indigenous All-Star team and thinks he could be a valuable weapon for the Aussies at Croke Park in Dublin.

“(When) we brought Jakey on he was exciting, amazing with his defensive pressure in attack and kicked a six pointer,” said McLeod.

“I think you’ll probably find he’ll start the next game and I’m looking forward to what he can bring.

“I hope the Irish underestimate him, because he’ll show them what he brings to the table with his defensive pressure.

“He’s unbelievable.”

Australia will take on Ireland at Croke Park on Saturday 26 October.
