MASON SHAW has recovered from the wrist injury he sustained during the SANFL pre-season.

He will be available to return to duties with the Magpies after completing his prescribed period on the long-term injury list.

It’s good news for the tall forward, who will bolster the club’s League side heading into the second half of the SANFL season.

Ruckman Matt Lobbe may also be cleared for action in the top-of-the-table clash with Hawthorn on Saturday night, according to high performance manager Darren Burgess.

“It’s good that Mason is available to return within the minimum long-term injury period,” Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au

“And hopefully Matt Lobbe will be ready to go against the Hawks.”

Tom Jonas will miss this weekend’s game against the reigning premiers though, with the club electing to hold him back from the game due to the minor groin soreness he suffered before the Fremantle game.

The club will continue to monitor the short-term injury in line with its ‘no risk’ injury returns policy, according to Burgess.

“Tommy will miss the game and we’ll review him again next week,” Burgess said.

“As we’ve been pretty clear on this year, we won’t risk players with short-term injuries until they’re absolutely ready to come back in.”

The club’s SANFL injury list has seen little change, with Jake Johansen to again be assessed, although his return will also be impacted by duties with the South Australian Under-18 team.

Louis Sharrad is now a nine-week return proposition.
