BRENDON AH CHEE is sticking around Port Adelaide for another season.

The 2015 debutant has played eight games this season and will feature on the club's senior list next year.

His solid first AFL games and strong all-round form in the SANFL is the product of hard work and persistence - by both player and football program - throughout a four-year stint at the club.

A late draft pick in 2011, Ah Chee has fought his way through the SANFL's reserves and league grades throughout his first three seasons at Alberton.

He was finally rewarded on the back of a strong pre-season with an AFL debut in Round 3.

It's something which has earned praise for the West Australian, but now Ah Chee's challenge is to consolidate a promising debut year with more hard work next summer.

In the meantime, he'll be looking to cement a place in the Power's line-up for the final four games of the year.

"On a personal note, I'm pretty happy with how my year has gone, pre-season was a massive win," Ah Chee told portadelaidefc.com.au.

"With that comes fitness - I was fitter than I'd ever been - but also something that comes with that is confidence, which is even more important.

"In previous years I've been starting behind the eight-ball in terms of fitness and structures, but this year I'd been in the thick of it since the beginning, which allowed me to put my best foot forward."

Ah Chee says his longer term focus is on building himself into a capable inside midfielder.

In the short-term, he'll be firmly focussed on producing consistent efforts for the remainder of the season.

"It's been eight games this year, so I'm pretty happy with that, but I also want to keep getting better," Ah Chee said.

"The first thing is my running ability, so with a one-year contract extension I'll be able to get another pre-season of fitness.

"The second thing is just to developa real aggression around stoppages, my coaches want me to be a big body around the midfield.

"So I'll be working on my strength, aggression and fitness, and also making sure I play consistent footy.

"Consistent footy is my 'number one' priority for the rest of this season."
