Empowering Youth was created by Power Community Ltd to encourage students in Years 9-11 to make the right choices in relation to their health, lifestyle, education and career pathway. The program is delivered in three modules – Taking Responsibility, Planning for the Future and Staying Motivated. The program includes visits to participating schools, tours and workshops at Alberton Oval and the Leadership Forum at Adelaide Oval.
The Leadership Forum included the announcement that Beyond Bank are the new Major Partners of Empowering Youth, allowing the program to expand and be delivered to schools free of charge. Staff from Beyond Bank addressed all students at the Leadership Forum about planning for the future and financial wellbeing.
Students were required to set SMART goals in four areas - Health, Education, Career and Financial – and were encouraged to share their goals with family and friends. Many of the students commented on the success of the day and the motivation that was generated from the guest speakers and the iconic Adelaide Oval.
