TOM LOGAN may have retired from football, but his involvement in the game will continue, and at Port Adelaide.

The 117-game AFL veteran will serve as a runner for Chad Cornes’s League team and an assistant coach for Mark Clayton in the club’s Academy in 2016.

Playing 76 games in the SANFL at Port and Glenelg, Logan’s familiarity with the local competition and the style of its play will be invaluable for helping to raise the performance of the Magpies Academy players.

As the Magpies’ League runner, he’ll be able to continue his involvement with the younger players he mentored on-field as a player in the SANFL last season.

SANFL coach Cornes is thrilled to have a close friend and proud Port man remain involved with the Magpies next season.

“I’m really good mates with Tommy Logan, so to have him involved in our programs, with the amount of respect the players have for him, is a good thing,” Cornes told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“That respect goes right through the club – [club chairman] David Koch, [CEO] Keith Thomas and Ken [Hinkley] hold him up pretty high as a bloke at the club, and our supporters obviously love him for his hard work and dedication.

“He’s too good a club man to let him walk off into the sunset, it’s great to keep him here working with the League and Academy.”
